The Shiv Sena on Thursday said that the execution of Yakub Memon has brought an end to a black era and insisted that no politics should be carried out in its aftermath.
"Now, no question should be raised regarding Memon's execution. This is an end of a black chapter. His body has been given to his family. So, all the politics that is taking place should end now. Our judiciary sees only the evidence that is presented before it, not the religion or the caste of the guilty," said Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut.
"I think instead of tweeting about Yakub Memon's death sentence, it would have been better if Shashi Tharoor would have expressed his grief over the victims of the Mumbai bomb blasts," he added.
"Digvijay Singh always talks about Hindu terrorism. Memon was not a Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Christian. The death sentence was not given to any religion, but to a person who was trying to execute the conspiracy of Pakistan," he insisted.
The Shiv Sena leader also said that if our nation has the political will, it should try to finish Tiger Memon or Dawood Ibrahim in the same way as was done by America in the case of Osama bin Ladin.
Reacting to the hanging of Memon, Congress MP Tharoor had said that 'cold-blooded execution has never prevented a terror attack anywhere.'
"We must fight against terrorism w/all the means at our command. But cold-blooded execution has never prevented a terror attack anywhere," he said in a tweet.
Memon was convicted for being the "driving spirit" behind the blasts that killed at least 257 people at separate landmarks in the financial capital, including the Bombay Stock Exchange and two crowded markets.
