Taking potshots at KS Eshwarappa for his controversial comment on women safety, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader is an uncultured man.
"He is an uncultured man," he said.
The Chief Minister, however, refused to comment on Karnataka Home Minister K.J. George who had yesterday accused the media of only highlighting news related to sexual assaults and projecting Bangalore as a 'rape city' to increase the TRP ratings.
"I don't want to react on that," he said.
Meanwhile, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader T.K.S. Elangovan called Eshwarappa's comment a result of anger and desperation.
"These are all comments out of anger and desperation; we shouldn't give importance to this. When no action is taken against the culprits and people in power do not care about common man, the people get angry and desperate," said Elangovan in Chennai.
Meanwhile, social activist Abha Singh criticized both Eshwarappa and George for politicizing a serious issue like rape.
"Rape is serious offence; it should not be politicized by the politicians. I condemn both the statements, said Singh in Delhi.
Earlier today, Eshwarappa made a controversial remark and said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister KJ George would wake up only if their daughters are raped as they do not consider everyone as their own.
He, however, later clarified his statement, saying he requested that the Chief Minister and the Home Minister should give importance to women's safety.
