Martin Skrtel's own goal helped Newcastle clinch their third win of the Premier League season as they swept aside Liverpool 2-0 at St James' Park on Sunday.
Liverpool defender Skrtel smacked a goal into his own net in the 69th minute of the game to give hosts a lead before midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum doubled the score in the last minute,the Guardian reported.
Despite the win, Newcastle are languishing down at the 18th spot while Liverpool are currently at the seventh place in the standings.
Liverpool will play their next match against West Brom while Newcastle will lock horns with fifth-placed Tottenham on December 13.
