Smith hails 'spirited' Proteas response during 'comeback' win over Pak in second Test

South African skipper Graeme Smith has hailed his side's spirited response during their comeback win in the second Test against Pakistan in Dubai on Saturday, which maintained their seven-year unbeaten record away from home.

South Africa completed their innings and 92-run win in the last hour of the penultimate day after bowling Pakistan out for 326, shoring up their world number one status in Tests and their unbeaten away record since losing 2-0 in Sri Lanka in 2006.

According to Sport24, Smith expressed pleasure over his side's win, saying that not many teams in the worlds would have been able to travel as well as they did and still manage to perform well in all the conditions, the pressures, the environments that they will face on the road.

However, Smith admitted it was tough to play a two-Test series and come back after losing the first Test in Abu Dhabi by seven wickets, saying that he has struggled to understand the two-match series all through his career, adding that now the series is drawn, fans would have loved to another Test.

South Africa recorded their 100th win in 207 Tests on Saturday since being re-admitted to international cricket in 1991, the report added.
