Snapchat is reportedly not sorry for the recent breach of data of around 4.6million of its users that exposed their phone numbers and usernames.

The auto-destruct, photo-sharing service instead said that it would release a new version of its app to let members opt out of the offending 'Find Friends' feature after verifying their phone numbers.

According to Cnet, the company also said that it is improving rate limiting and other restrictions to address future attempts to abuse the service.

In December last year, security researchers warned of a security bug in the service that could allow hackers to match user names to phone numbers and the following week hackers put the exploit code to Snapchat's Find Friends feature and published a database of usernames and phone numbers.

Snapchat acknowledged the alleged breach but assured that no other information; including Snaps were leaked or accessed, while maintaining that the so-called vulnerability is merely an important discovery feature that has been abused by duplicitous figures.
