Southampton has smashed Liverpool's unbeaten record this season at the Premier League with a 1-0 win at Anfield on Saturday.
Liverpool's unbeaten start to the season was wrecked by Southampton's Croatian centre-back Dejan Lovren, whose header punctured the air of optimism hanging around Anfield.
According to the Mirror, although Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers blamed the loss through injury and suspension of Luis Suarez, Coutinho, Glen Johnson and Aly Cissokho, his decision to play four centre-backs also played a big part in the side's downfall.
The report mentioned that Rodgers' decision to bench Jose Enrique and Andre Wisdom also may have added to the team's defeat, with Rodgers saying that although the circumstances dictated his team selection, he would have to use a different system if he is faced with the same problem again.
Despite his disappointment at the loss, Rodgers however, expressed optimism that their positivity is still intact.
