Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe of Sri Lanka has reportedly ordered the nation's Inspector General of Police to immediately arrest the suspects who opened fire at a United National Party (UNP) election rallyin Colombo on Friday.
It maybe recalled that unidentified gunmen arrived in a vehicle and sprayed bullets into the crowd at the rally that was organised in support of Finance Minister Ravi in Kotahena near Colombo.
One woman was killed and 13 others were injured, three of them critically in the incident, reports the Colombo Page.
Police is so far claiming that underworld gangs were responsible for the incident. They have found a hybrid motor vehicle which is believed to have been used by the suspects. A cache of T-56 ammunition was also found in a car parked near the Bluemandhal apartments.
Further investigations have been handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department.
