Stewart warns Oz against 'towering' threat Tremlett could pose in Old Trafford

Former England captain Alec Stewart has said that he thinks returning bowler Chris Tremlett is near to the level he found in his last Ashes tour and could be a real threat to Australia in the Old Trafford Test.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Stewart said that it was apparent from the way he bowled in the Championship games at Yorkshire and then against Nottinghamshire that he was bowling better and better as he started trusting his body, and because he was strong in the mind, he had a taste of Ashes success.

Chris Tremlett could be set for an extended stay in enemy territory this summer with the Sydney Sixers chasing his signature for the Twenty20 Big Bash League, the report said.

He has not played for England for 15 months due to a series of injuries and, despite being included ahead of Steven Finn and Graham Onions for Manchester, is not certain to feature with Anderson, Bresnan and Stuart Broad also in the squad, the report added.
