External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today met Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry O Rogozin in the first high level contact between the two nations since the formation of a new government in India.
During the meeting, both leaders are expected to review overall bilateral trade and economic cooperation, especially in the energy sector.
They would also initiate preparations for the annual summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Putin scheduled during the course of the year.
Deputy Prime Minister Rogozin is also scheduled to meet Defence Minister Arun Jaitley and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, and is also expected to call on the Prime Minister, official sources said.
