Tariq Anwar bats for talks with Pakistan

Amid repeated ceasefire violations from across the border, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Tariq Anwar today said that talks, not war, were the way to move forward with Pakistan.

Anwar told ANI, "War is not the solution. Talks should be held for solving the issues; war never resolves any issue."

He, however, added that the government should strictly talk to Pakistan about relations between the two nations worsening due to these violations.

"I think that talks should be continued with Pakistan and pressure should be put on them that on one side Pakistan says about talks and on other side it carries out these violations. Indian government should strictly say to Pakistan that if this isn't stopped then relations may become bitter between the two countries," Anwar told ANI.

Pakistan had on Saturday suggested that both sides consider holding an urgent meeting between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) to resolve the situation on the Line of Control (LoC).

Intense shelling in R S Pura sector of Jammu, however, left two civilians dead and one BSF jawan injured on Friday. Another ceasefire violation took place last night as well.

Janata Dal (United) leader Ali Anwar termed the issue as worrisome but also reminded that Pakistan's internal issues are also quite bad.

"It is a worrisome issue. Civilians are being killed. They have violated the ceasefire 23 times. Pakistan's internal conditions are bad. Political leadership in Pakistan is under pressure from Army," he added.
