Tiger Woods says has beaten his painful backache blues

World No.1 Tiger Woods has seemed to get over his back problems after he reportedly said that his 'back is fine' on being asked about it by one of his partners ahead of the Deutsche Bank Championship.

According to The Scotsman, Woods, who appeared to be swinging freely at the pro-am for the Championship, had suffered a back spasm during the final round of The Barclays, where he finished one shot behind winner Adam Scott.

Although Woods had said after the final round at Barclays that it was 'hypothetical' whether he would play in the Deutsche Bank tournament, he had warmed up before heading to the first tee for his pro-am round and said that his back was fine, after being asked by one of his amateurs about it.

According to the report, Woods, who already has his tenth season of at least five wins on the PGA Tour in the bag, had missed two tournaments this year because of an elbow injury suffered in May and also had tightness in his lower back during the final round of the PGA Championship.

Woods had said that he experienced stiffness in his lower back and neck because of a soft mattress in his New York hotel and had consequently decided to only chip and putt on the back nine of his pro-am last week at Liberty National as a precaution.

The Deutsche Bank Championship is the second play-off event for the FedEx Cup, with Woods remaining No 1 in the standings, narrowly ahead of Scott, and Phil Mickelson at No 3., the report added.
