Former England footballer Tim Sherwood has said he is proud and honoured to be appointed as Tottenham Hotspur's new head coach.
The comments from Sherwood came hours after taking his first training session as permanent boss.
Spurs confirmed the news last night that the 44-year-old has signed a contract until the end of the 2014/15 season, the Mirror reports.
The club's chairman Daniel Levy said that Sherwood 'has both the knowledge and the drive to take the squad forward'.
Speaking for the first time since his new role was confirmed, Sherwood told Tottenham's official website that it is a proud moment for him.
Sherwood was brought in as caretaker manager after Villas-Boas was sacked earlier this month, losing in the Capital One Cup to West Ham in his first game in charge, the report added.
