Time to move-on: Hannity invites Kimmel to his show

Fox News Channel host Sean Hannity has accepted late-night host Jimmy Kimmel's apology and has even invited him on his show for a 'serious discussion'.

Hannity responded to Kimmel's apology to United States First Lady Melania Trump for mocking her on his show.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he said, "On the surface, to be honest, it feels more like a forced Disney corporate apology directed more towards the LBGTQ community rather than about Kimmel's comments about the first lady."

"I think every person should accept apologies, and that's what I'm going to do here," Hannity said. "This was never about Hannity vs. Jimmy Kimmel, here's why: The level of vitriol against President Trump and his family is really sickening. Attacking the first lady for her accent is just one small example, but it's a line in the sand for me. Those cheap shots need to end."

The 56-year-old then invited Kimmel to come on his show, where he promised there would be "no name-calling." He also said that if Kimmel decided to reignite the feud that he would "punch back even harder."

On Sunday, Kimmel had issued a statement on Twitter, saying that his exchanges with Hannity were fun but that he had realised that "the level of vitriol from all sides (mine and me included) does nothing good for anyone and, in fact, is harmful to our country."

In an episode of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!,' the late-night host had joked about Melania Trump's Slovenian accent, which apparently didn't go down too well with Hannity.

What followed was a war of words on their respective shows as well as on Twitter.

On Saturday, Hannity had tweeted that he was not going to stop until Kimmel apologised to the First Lady.
