The Trinamool Congress on Thursday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government at the Centre is responsible for Srinjoy Bose's resignation from the party.

"Government at the Centre has been putting a lot of pressure on people like Srinjoy. Yesterday he got bail, today morning he resigned," TMC MP Derek O' Brien told ANI.

"But we are happy that he has got freedom. Wish him luck in whatever he does," he added.

Bose, who was granted conditional bail in the Saradha chit-fund scam, resigned from his party earlier in the day and also gave up the Rajya Sabha membership.

"With immediate effect, I have resigned from my membership of the Rajya Sabha. I have also decided to resign from the primary membership of the Trinamool Congress (TMC)," he said.

The TMC MP was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for his alleged links in the Saradha scam in November last year.
