Torkham border, which was closed for almost a week following clashes between the Afghan and Pakistani forces, was reopened on Saturday morning.

According to local officials in Nangarhar, the gate was reopened after talks between the officials of both countries, reports Tolo News.

The Torkham crisis witnesses heavy firing and a number of casualties on both sides.

At least three Afghan border police and a high ranking Pakistani general were among those killed during the clash.

In addition, 21 other Afghan soldiers were also wounded in the battle.

Trade ties between both neighbours have been affected following the closure of the gate as hundreds of trucks, carrying commodities and other goods, were stranded on the two sides of the Durand Line for the past six days.
