US-Iran nuke dispute might end in six months, says Obama

President Barack Obama has said that the United States could diplomatically resolve its nuclear dispute with Iran in the next six months.

Obama also made a personal appeal to leading US senators to postpone new sanctions on Iran terming this effort as "a test worth conducting", Dawn News reports.

He said that his aides had already discussed the plan with the Israelis, the Iranians, the US Congress and leaders of the international community.

Obama, however, clarified that the U.S. would maintain the essential sanctions, and as president, he would retain all options to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons.

The interim deal would see Iran halting their nuclear programme and subject themselves to more vigorous inspections, the report added.

Meanwhile, the U.S. will provide Iran with slight relief in sanctions, if they did not violate any part of the early agreement.
