The Department of Vigilance of the Government of Uttar Pradesh has ordered an inquiry against former King George Medical University (KGMU) vice-chancellor, Dr. Ravi Kant and several others.
According to local media, Dr. Ravi Kant has been allegedly accused of committing financial irregularities, clearing illegal appointments, decorated private shops in the KGMU campusand giving out-of-turn promotions to people known to him.
The Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has also raised questions about some of the fraudulent activities of Dr. Ravi Kant and his associates.
Currently, Dr. Ravi Kant is the director of the All India Insititute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh.
