After suffering a painful defeat in the race to the White House, Democrat Hillary Clinton in her concession speech urged all Americans to accept the election results and give Donald Trump a chance to lead.
She also pitched for working together with her rival and newly-elected President for the country's welfare.
"Last night I congratulated Donald Trump and offered to work with him on behalf of our country. I hope that he will be a President for all of our country," she said adding, "We owe him an open mind and a chance to lead."
She also expressed grief for not being able to win this election.
"I know how disappointed you feel because I feel it too," she said with tears in her eyes.
She thanked her running mate Tim Kaine and Anne Holton alongwith President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle.
"To Barack and Michelle Obama. Our country owes you an enormous debt of gratitude. We thank you for your graceful determined leadership that has meant so much," she said.
Clinton also thanked her staff, campaigners, volunteers, donors and everyone else for believing in her.
"You will have successes and setbacks too. This loss hurts. But please never stop believing that fighting for what's right is worth it," she added.
Trump won the US presidential election early this morning in a stunning victory as he took the key swing states of Florida, North Carolina and Ohio.
Clinton conceded her defeat after Trump ended long election by grabbing 276 electoral votes from 27 states, six more than the 270 needed to win the Presidency.
