Clashes broke out between the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the CPI(M) here in the North Dinajpur district of West-Bengal on Saturday during the Central Co-operative bank election.
The CPI(M) alleged that some of the TMC workers tried to stop the voters from casting their votes, which prompted the violence.
Both the parties began stone-pelting at each other after which the local police lathi-charged the mob and fired four rounds of rubber bullets.
Some CPI(M) workers got injured in the incident and were admitted to the nearest hospital.
Heavy police arrangement has been deployed in the area and the situation is now under control.
The TMC had earlier today swept the three municipal corporation elections in West Bengal.
