The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Saturday said that Raghuvansh Prasad Singh's remarks on beef should be seen in a historical context.
"Raghuvansh Prasad's remark over beef has nothing to do with Bihar elections. His remarks should be seen in the context of history only. It has nothing to do with contemporary politics," RJD national spokesperson Manoj Jha told ANI
"The BJP is trying to change the course of the elections by raising such issues. I think all this should end now, as it has nothing to do with the people of Bihar," he added.
He stressed that the Bihar elections should be contested on core issues of should be good governance and development.
Singh had earlier said that people including sages used to eat meat in the Vedic period and there was proof in the ancient text to substantiate the claim.
