Following a major reshuffle in the British Cabinet, William Hague has reportedly stepped down as the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom.
According to the BBC, Hague had served the Parliament for 26 years as MP for Richmond, North Yorkshire and was scheduled to retire in 2015. He will now take over as the Leader of the House of Commons for the interim period and will be replaced by the current Defence Secretary, Philip Hammond.
Several other ministers have also been removed or have stepped down in what is being dubbed the biggest cabinet reshuffle of the Cameron government. The list includes, Hugh Robertson, ex-Foreign Office minister; Alan Duncan, ex-international development minister; Greg Barker, ex-energy minister; Conservative MP Ken Clarke among others.
The reshuffle is being seen as a move to cull the cabinet of white, middle-aged men and give greater representation to faces and voices that form the face of the contemporary Britain including women, the report added.
