A social media study conducted on the eve of Women's Day revealed that girls on the verge of marriage were in need of support, not permission from their husbands.

The study titled 'Understanding Brides To Be,' conducted by online matchmaking brand BharatMatrimony, attempted to understand what girls want the would-be grooms to know about them, when it comes to marriage.

The study that witnessed over 890 responses revealed that girls wanted their views to be respected when it comes taking decisions, and want the groom and family to accept them with all their imperfections.

Furthermore, a strong career, the respondents felt, would empower and help them share family responsibilities in a better manner, as being independent, for them, means the ability to face challenges.

Majority of the respondents felt that marriage should not hinder girls from pursuing their passion, implying that after marriage, girls should be supported to pursue their dreams.

Respondents also stated that they would like to have kids after understanding their partner well and achieving financial stability, and therefore, expected that their grooms and families understand them.

Girls further noted that men who share household chores were more appealing.

Through each social campaign, BharatMatrimony aims to understand the challenges, aspirations and expectations of singles while finding a life partner, and also provides a platform for conversations around the challenges.
