An unauthorized biography of Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer reportedly portrays her as opposite to what is seen in the media.
Mayer who is seen as warm and charismatic has been portrayed as brutal, blunt, pedantic yet more than committed to her work by Business Insider journalist Nicholas Carlson in the biography.
Carlson has written that though Mayer did spectacularly well at Google, she was demoted in 2010-2012 due to public disagreements with colleagues, News.com.au reports.
Lead designer Dan Bowman said he quit Google after Mayer forced him to justify every minuscule decision he made to design with data.
The biography states that Mayer allegedly adapted her professional style from her days of academia at Stanford University and if people wanted to talk to her, she would make them book five-minute meetings with her during office hours.
The report said that Mayer's style of running things irked YouTube CEO, Salar Kamangar to such an extent that he and three other search engineers approached Google CEO Larry Page and asked that she be removed from the top of its search organisation.
In 2012 Mayer was recruited to join Yahoo! amid much controversy and quickly noticed employees' erratic work pattern and banned people working from home.
Carlson wrote that Mayer's fussiness for detail may not be liked by all employees but it is certainly working for Yahoo which claims that after Mayer's redesigns, traffic to apps for Yahoo Mail is up 120 percent, the report added.
