Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari's security chief Bilal Shaikh was killed in a suspected suicide bombing here on Wednesday as he stopped his armored vehicle to buy some fruit, police said.
Apart from Shaikh, two other persons were also killed in the explosion that took place in a prosperous area of eastern Karachi.
Police said that the suicide attacker walked up to Shaikh's vehicle and blew himself up outside the front passenger seat of the vehicle where Shaikh was seated.
About a dozen people were also wounded in the incident.
No one has taken responsibility for the blast, which took place on the eve of the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramazaan, which begins on Thursday.
