Skoda’s flagship car, the Superb, has been teased in its 2016 avatar on the manufacturer’s official website. The manufacturer is not participating in the latest iteration of Indian Auto Expo. The luxury sedan is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2016 and could be priced over Rs 25 lacs. The car will lock horns against the likes of Toyota Camry and Next-Gen Volkswagen Passat (Skoda’s parent company).
The car takes an aesthetic leap in terms of both exteriors as well as interiors. Looking at pictures that have been surfacing on the internet for some time now, one can easily make a note of the bold character lines that run on the surface of the car. As compared to the current car, 2016 Skoda Superb is more muscular, but still incorporates element like the signature grille. The sharp headlamp gets an all new DRL setup with LED projectors, while the tail lamps are also done keeping the sharp theme in mind.
The insides of the car supports a minimalist design approach, are done with minimalistic design approach, however, as it is the case with current Superb, the attention to detail and quality can be expected to be on par with the competition. There would be an all-new infotainment system that’d support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The music system will be hooked to 12 speakers, while there will be the three zone climate control to ensure comfort.
Speaking of the engines, the Superb is expected to retain the same 2.0-litre TDI diesel motor, but it might produce 190 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. Unlike the current engine which generates 140 PS and 320 Nm . Whereas, the petrol motor could also be the same 1.8-litre TSI, with a decent 20PS bump, adding up to 180 PS and 250 Nm of power and torque, respectively.
