Thailand becomes BR-V’s first market, the compact crossover will make its Indian debut at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo!
Honda has launched the BR-V compact crossover/SUV in Thailand, where the production spec model had made its world premiere a few months back. It will be India's first compact SUV to offer full three rows of seating. In Thailand it comes with an option of 5 or 7 seaters, of these the 5-seater version is priced at 750,000 baht (nearly Rs. 14 lacs), while the 7-seater is priced at 820,000 baht (nearly Rs.15 lacs). Speaking of India, it is expected that the prices for BR-V will start in the vicinity of Rs. 10 lacs and it will compete majorly with Hyundai Creta along with facelifted Renault Duster and others.
Mechanically, it will be powered by a 1.5-liter i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel. Speaking of the transmission, 6-Speed manual will be standard in both petrol and diesel models but petrol version will also come with an option of Honda’s new CVT automatic (Earth Dream Technology). The 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine produces 120 PS @ 6600 rpm and 145 Nm of peak torque @ 4600 rpm. The 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel generates 100 PS @ 3600 rpm and 200 Nm @ 1750 rpm.
Coming to its features, BR-V comes with projector headlamps with LED light guide and LED taillamps. It rides on diamond cut alloys wheel and features all-around body cladding. The dashboard is derived from City and Jazz and features Honda’s AVN touch system, three-pod instrument cluster, push-button start-stop, all-black theme and last-gen City/Civic’s steering wheel.
