Ahead of its launch next month, Maruti Suzuki has started the promotional campaign for the SX4 replacement – Maruti Suzuki 'Ciaz'. The first teaser image showcases a cat driving the new Ciaz and yeah not to mention those glares! Looks like a series of teasers are ahead of us as the launch is around the corner. Furthermore, Maruti's marketing campaign goes with the hash-tag #coolcatsintown. Speaking about the launch, sedan is likely to land in the first week of September and will compete with the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, 2014 Fiat Linea, 2014 Ford Fiesta, in general.
Moreover, Maruti has already started the production of the Ciaz and reportedly, company has already produced close to 1000 units of the car as of now. Seeing the anticipation sedan has created since the glitzy concept company showcased at the Expo, looks like company has been ramping-up the production for easy availability; though expect a modest demand for the sedan!
Mechanically, the upcoming Ciaz is likely to be powered by the Ertiga borrowed engines. The diesel trims will be powered by the 1.3L Fiat Multijet borrowed DDiS turbo diesel engine. The engine gathers 88.8bhp (90PS) and 200Nm of max torque; most probably this engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. On the petrol front, it gets 1.4L K14 naturally aspirated petrol producing 93.5bhp (95PS) and 130Nm of peak torque. We can expect a CVT automatic mated with this engine along with the manual. Expect modest fuel efficiency figures from the both the trims, although the official figures will come on the launch date.
