Twelve cement shares rose by 0.35% to 4.65% at 11:32 IST on BSE after a report suggested that cement prices rose sharply by Rs 20-50 per bag in last 10 days of September 2013.
UltraTech Cement (up 4.65%), Saurastra Cement (up 4.64%), Ambuja Cements (up 4.27%), J K Cements (up 3.94%), India Cements (up 3.47%), ACC (up 3.02%), HeidelbergCement India (up 2.20%), Mangalam Cement (up 2.02%), Prism Cement (up 1.85%), The Ramco Cement (up 1.49%), Shree Cement (up 1.48%) and JK Lakshmi Cement (up 0.35%), edged higher.
The BSE Sensex rose 255.62 points, or 1.31% at 19,772.77.
A report suggested that cement prices rose sharply by Rs 20-50 a bag in last 10 days of September, after a steady downtrend/subdued movement over August and first half of September.
