GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare leads gainers in 'A' group

GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, known for its malted food drinks brand Horlicks, surged 10.59% to Rs 5,821.90 ahead of the stock's entry in MSCI India index from close of trading today, 31 May 2013. The stock topped the gainers in the BSE's 'A' group. The stock hit a record high of Rs 6,020 in intraday today, 31 May 2013.

MSCI Barra is a leading provider of benchmark indices and risk management analytics products. Many global mutual funds are linked with MSCI indices. Hence, any new stock addition in MSCI index will require the fund tracking that index to include it in its portfolio.

GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals spurted 9% to Rs 2,507.05. The stock was second biggest gainer in 'A' group. The stock hit a record high of Rs 2,550 in intraday today, 31 May 2013.

Pharmaceutical company Wockhardt galloped 7.20% to Rs 1,222.60 ahead of the stock's entry in MSCI India index from close of trading today, 31 May 2013. The stock was third biggest gainer in 'A' group.

Diversified company Videocon Industries jumped 5.24% to Rs 218.05 ahead of the company's year ended March 2013 (FY 2013) result announcement today, 31 May 2013. The stock was fourth biggest gainer in 'A' group.

Apollo Hospitals Enterprise climbed 4.50% to Rs 1,003.45 ahead of the stock's entry in MSCI India index from close of trading today, 31 May 2013. The stock was fifth biggest gainer in 'A' group.
