Amount spent for conservation and maintenance of monuments rises to Rs 410.77 crore in 2017-18
There are 3691 monuments/sites declared as of National importance falls under the jurisdiction of Archaeological Survey of India of which 116 monuments are ticketed monuments.The revenue generated through entry fee for monuments in the last three years has increased from Rs 93.95 crore in 2015-16 to Rs 224.77 crore in 2016-17 and jumped to Rs 269.40 crore in 2017-18.
The amount spent for conservation, preservation and maintenance of centrally protected monuments / sites in the country has also surged from Rs 237.46 crore in 2015-16 to Rs 301.76 crore in 2016-17 and Rs 410.77 crore in 2017-18.
