Net outflow of Rs 948.23 crore on 18 January 2016
Selling was reported from foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) for the third day in a row on Monday 18 January 2016. FPIs offloaded stocks worth a net Rs 948.23 crore on 18 January 2016. This compares with their outflow of Rs 1035.04 crore during the preceding trading session on 15 January 2016.
The net outflow of Rs 948.23 crore from the secondary equity markets on 18 January 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3131.97 crore and gross sales of Rs 4080.20 crore. On that day, the S&P BSE Sensex shed 266.67 points or 1.09% to settle at 24,188.37, its lowest closing level since 16 May 2014.
There was an outflow of Rs 917.83 crore from FPIs from the category 'primary markets & others' on 18 January 2016.
FPIs have offloaded shares worth a net Rs 5447.93 crore into the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 18 January 2016). FPIs sold stocks worth a net Rs 2588.54 crore into the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs offloaded shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.
There has been a net outflow of Rs 936.64 crore from FPIs from the category 'primary markets & others' in this month so far (till 18 January 2016). There was an outflow of Rs 228.11 crore from FPIs from the category 'primary markets & others' last month.
The inflow of FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' stood at Rs 22168.40 crore in calendar year 2015.
