Nifty December 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price
The Nifty December 2016 futures traded at 8389.85, a premium of 93.55 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8296.30 in the cash market. The November 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8335.95, a premium of 39.65 points compared with the Nifty's closing in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment declined to Rs 4.77 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 7.56 lakh crore registered yesterday, 10 November 2016.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index lost 229.45 points or 2.69% to settle at 8,296.30.
State Bank of India (SBI), ICICI Bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (Sun Pharma) and Vedanta were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. SBI November 2016 futures traded at 274.70, near spot closing of 273.95. ICICI Bank November 2016 futures traded at 279.40, near spot closing of 278. PNB November 2016 futures traded at 156.95, near spot closing of 156.25.
Sun Pharma November 2016 futures traded at 693, at a premium over spot closing of 690.75. Vedanta November 2016 futures traded at 229.70, at a discount compared with spot closing of 230.80.
The November 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 24 November 2016. The December 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 December 2016.
