Volumes jump at Balkrishna Industries counter

Sequent Scientific, L&T, Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation and Indoco Remedies are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 30 July 2014.

Balkrishna Industries clocked volume of 1.41 lakh shares by 12:27 IST on BSE, a 8.54-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 17,000 shares. The stock fell 3.55% to Rs 771.

Sequent Scientific notched up volume of 10.03 lakh shares, a 7.01-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.43 lakh shares. The stock rose 1.79% to Rs 380.

L&T saw volume of 7.81 lakh shares, a 5.44-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.44 lakh shares. The stock fell 7.04% to Rs 1,529 as growth in the company's net profit in Q1 June 2014 was restricted by a onetime loss of about Rs 942.14 crore at PBIT level from the hydrocarbon segment.

Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation clocked volume of 9.04 lakh shares, a 5.02-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.80 lakh shares. The stock jumped 14.99% to Rs 223.20.

Indoco Remedies saw volume of 6.03 lakh shares, a 4.04-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 1.49 lakh shares. The stock rose 11.77% to Rs 213.60 after net profit surged 118.30% to Rs 20.04 crore on 29.01% increase in total income from operations (net) to Rs 198.63 crore in Q1 June 2014 over Q1 June 2013.
