Of Delhi's over 1.2 crore voters, 1.28 lakh will vote for the first time in the Lok Sabha polls, an official said Wednesday.
"A total of 1.2 crore people will cast their votes, out of which 1.28 lakh will vote for the first time," Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Dev told media here.
Delhi has seven parliamentary constituencies and will go to polls April 10.
He said all arrangements have been made to conduct the polls in a smooth and fair manner.
Stating that the administration in Delhi was completely different from other states, he said 35,000 Delhi Police personnel and a sufficient number of paramilitary personnel will be deployed during the polls.
The last date for filing nominations is March 22, while candidates can withdraw from the fray by March 26. Nomination forms will be scrutinised March 24.
Of the total voters, 66,84,476 are males and 53,76,017 are females. The list includes 68 transgenders.
"To curb any illegitimate activity during the election campaign by candidates, micro-observers will be deployed in all seven constituencies," he said.
"To make the voting experience better, 70 new model polling stations will be set up by the Election Commission," Dev said.
Model polling stations are booths equipped with better infrastructure, better crowd management, prominent signage, and first aid facilities.
In the last assembly elections in Delhi, nine model polling stations were set up.
Dev said citizens who wanted to enroll their names in the electoral list could apply till March 12.
"Citizens who wish to enroll their names in the electoral list can apply by filling up the Form 6 and submit it to the concerned district offices before March 12," he said.
"Special efforts will be made by the Election Commission to make the voting experience smooth and better for disabled citizens."
Dev also urged parties not to indulge in any illegitimate activity.
"It should be very clear that if candidates indulge in any illegitimate activity, the Election Commission won't hesitate to take action."
