Ten people, including three children, were killed early Wednesday here in Uttar Pradesh when a truck carrying silt overturned on them while they were sleeping by the roadside, police said.
The incident took place at Kumhar Mandi in Rail Bazaar area. All the deceased belonged to the same family.
Police managed to pull out the bodies from under the truck only after many hours.
An official told IANS that one of the tyres of the truck got stuck in an open sewer hole and the vehicle toppled over on the victims.
Two people were seriously injured in the incident and their condition was critical in hospital.
