Twelve improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which were recovered from a lodge here, were on Friday defused, an official said. Police suspect that the explosives belong to Maoists.

"A team of bomb disposal squad have defused the IEDs," Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Vikash Vaibhav said.

A police team raided the lodge following a tip off from Ranchi police and recovered the explosives.

According to another police officer, explosives recovered at the lodge in Ramkrishna Nagar area are suspected to be of Maoist outfit People's Liberation Front of India.

Police have detained a caretaker of the lodge.
