Cairo, Aug 6 (IANS/EFE) At least 16 people, including two children and a woman, died and 79 others were wounded when rebels of the Islamic State (IS) bombarded the capital of Syria, Damascus, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said Wednesday.
The rebels fired dozens of rockets into the city's al-Moza neighbourhood, near a French school and the Vatican embassy, SOHR reported, adding that fatalities could increase because many of the wounded, including several children, were in serious condition.
A similar attack took place in the Abu Raman neighbourhood with an unknown number of casualties.
More than 171,000 people have been killed since the conflict began in Syria in March 2011, according to the NGO.
