Two persons were arrested on Monday for robbing a Naval officer's son and his cousin of their mobiles phones here, police said.

The accused Mohan Chand Upadhyay, 35, was arrested from a park in south Delhi where the robbery took place while his accomplice Sumit, 30, was later arrested from his residence, also in south Delhi.

Police said the incident took place around 2 a.m. when the victim, 19, and his cousin sister were returning to their residence in East of Kailash after attending a Navy officers' party in west Delhi.

"The victims, both students of professional courses, got down from a cab near a park to walk to their home. Upadhyay and Sumit, who were inside the park, stopped the two and snatched their mobile phones," Deputy Commissioner of Police Chinmoy Biswal said.

"The victims approached a police vehicle and reported the crime. The officers took swift action and rushed to the park from where they apprehended Upadhyay with one of the robbed mobiles."

Based on information provided by Upadhyay, they later arrested Sumit with the other mobile, Biswal added.

The victim's father is a Naval Commander posted in Visakhapatnam, the officer said. Upadhyay works as a cook in a bungalow in the Defence Colony area.
