The Odisha government has issued notice to 24 engineering and management institutes for encroaching on government land and carrying out constructions, a minister said on Monday.
Revenue Minister Bijayshree Routray, in a written reply to a question by BJP legislator Dilip Ray, said the Employment and Technical Education and Training department issued a show-cause notice to all the institutions.
He said the revenue department has asked the concerned officials to take steps to free the land of encroachment.
Mahavir Institute of Engineering and Technology grabbed the highest 24 acres of government land, the minister said.
The other institutes include Kalinga Institute of Technology, Rajdhani Engineering and Technology, Gandhi Institute for Technology and Asian School of Business Management.
