Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday took a dig at his party's arch rival and BSP chief Mayawati for claiming that the Lucknow Metro Rail project was initiated during her tenure. He also had harsh words for Congress poll strategist Prashant Kishore.
At a talk on the UP budget here, Yadav said if that was the case (as Mayawati claimed) why did the project not take off between 2007-2012 when the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ruled Uttar Pradesh.
Taking a pot shot at election strategist Prashant Kishore, hired by the Congress to revive its fortunes in Uttar Pradesh where Congress has been pushed on the fringes, the 43-year-old chief minister said if 'PK' was into a publicity mode for Congress, 'Bua ji' (Yadav fondly refers to the BSP chief as his father's sister) was doing the same job for our government, he mused with a chuckle.
During the deliberations on the Rs.3.47 lakh crore budget for the state for fiscal 2016-17, which is also the biggest so far in the state, Yadav said under his four-year-old rule, all sectors of governance were strengthened and special focus had been paid on infrastructure and agriculture.
