Blaming Punjab government for the Nabha jail break in which two Khalistani terrorists and four gangsters escaped, state Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh on Monday demanded a CBI probe into it, saying he doesn't have faith in the Punjab Police.

"I do not have any faith in the Punjab Police doing the enquiry. This matter should be given to the CBI to have an independent enquiry as to how a break-in can take place into a high security jail. A fair investigation would not be possible under the Punjab Police.

"I blame Mr. Badal (Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal) fully. This is done by them and they have done it with the objective of further provoking tensions in view of the elections," he said.

Khalistani terrorist Harminder Singh Mintoo was arrested at a railway station in Delhi on Monday morning, within a day of his escape from the high security prison along with another terrorist and four gangsters after it was attacked by 10-12 armed men.

Singh has written to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh seeking immediate dismissal of the Badal government and imposition of the President's Rule in Punjab in the wake of the Nabha jail break incident.

In a separate communication, he has also written to Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi urging imposition of the code of conduct without further delay and holding of the assembly elections under President's Rule.

Singh also pointed out that the four gangsters who had escaped along with the Khalistani terrorist from the jail belonged to Muktsar and Jalalabad area from which the Badals hailed.
