Punjab Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday got the party high command's nod to fight against Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal from Lambi in the state assembly elections.

Meanwhile, cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu will contest from Amritsar East and Ludhiana MP Ravneet Bittu will take on Sukhbir Singh Badal from Jalalabad.

Amarinder Singh had earlier requested the party high command for permission to take on Badal from Lambi.

Congress on Monday announced the fifth list of six more seats and changed the nominees from four others.

The Congress has so far released the names of 114 of the 117 candidates. The polls will be held on February 4.

Sidhu joined the party on Sunday.

Nominees for the pending seats of Amritsar South, Mansa and Ludhiana East will be announced by Tuesday, said a party statement.

Former hockey player Pargat Singh has been allotted the ticket from Jalandhar Cantt.

The seats for which the party has changed its nominees are Jagraon SC (ex-MLA Malkiat Singh Dakha in place of Geja Ram), Jalandhar North (Avtar Singh Sanghera instead of Rajkumar Gupta) and Bholath (Ranjit Singh instead of Guwinder Singh Atwal).

The party has also changed the candidate from Phillaur-SC, giving ticket to Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary in place of his mother Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary.
