Cement maker Ambuja Cements Ltd on Monday posted a decline of 44.6 percent in its net profit at Rs.226.35 crore for the fiscal quarter ended June 30 as against a profit of Rs.408.70 crore in the same period last year.
Net income from operations also fell by 7.7 percent in the review period. While the company's earnings stood at Rs.2,720.06 crore during April-June 2014, it dipped to Rs.2,510.49 crore in the same timeframe this year.
Its interest and other income also took a hit. The income in the category fell from Rs.138.08 crore during April-June 2014 to Rs.105.69 crore in the corresponding period this year.
Part of global conglomerate Holcim, Ambuja Cements' shares were down by 6.05 points in the evening trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange and were trading at Rs.234.30 - down by 2.52 percent.
