Amitriyaan Patil not keen on abs, but character-oriented roles

Actor Amitriyaan Patil, whose performance in Marathi film "Rajwade and Sons" has been praised by the likes of Amol Palekar and Nana Patekar, says he's more interested in quality roles rather than those that require muscles and abs.

"Unlike the other actors of the industry who're interested in body building and masala romances, I am more focused on character oriented roles," the actor said here.

An engineer by qualification and a post graduate in advertising and public relations, Amitriyaan had bagged the lead role in Sangeeth Sivan's Hindi film "332 - Mumbai to India", but the turning point in his career was his award-winning debut in Marathi film "Manya- The Wonder Boy".

"Rajwade and Sons", which is currently going strong in the theatres, has received a promising response from cinema veterans.

"At the premiere of the film, a voice called me by the name of my character Vikram. I was surprised to see that it was Nana Patekar. He was keen to see who this new guy is. He praised my performance and said that he liked my subtle and natural way of expressing. Amol Palekar too bombarded me with compliments at the premiere.

"When such big actors talk about my acting not just superficially but in a detailed and fine manner, it shows that I'm on the right track. It feels really good when great actors, who have been known for their skills over several years, recognise your work," he said.

Amitriyaan doesn't want to keep himself restricted to just Marathi films. He has already done a Tamil film "Naanthanda", directed by Ram Gopal Varma, as well as the Hindi version of the same film, "Satya 2". His next film will also be in Hindi and he will essay a Pakistani terrorist.
