Bangkok blast: Malaysia hunts for three more suspects

Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid on Thursday said the authorities were hunting for three more suspects involved in the deadly August 17 Bangkok shrine bombing.

The deputy prime minister said the authorities were given three names when they met their Thai counterparts, The Malaysian Star reported.

"We have met the Thai authorities and discussions have been completed. There are three names given to us and we are on the hunt for the individuals," he said.

"However, what we need now is their biometric data and any DNA evidence to ease the process of their identification and arrests," he said, adding that the suspects could be linked directly or indirectly to the bombing.

"They could have direct involvement with the bomber or they could just be a taxi driver who brought anyone involved here," the minister added.

So far, eight individuals have been detained by Malaysian authorities over the bombing.

On August 17, a bomb exploded near the shrine killing 20 people, mostly tourists.

It was reported that a Pakistani and two Malaysians suspected of being part of a human trafficking operation were undergoing interrogation by Malaysian police in connection with the attack.
