India and Belgium on Thursday affirmed their commitment to further strengthen their ties during a visit by a 13-member Indian parliamentary delegation led by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
The delegation was welcomed by the Belgian parliament's lower house and senate presidents Siegfried Bracke and Christine Defraigne.
The Belgian leaders urged India to usher in a historic "European moment" in its international relations through Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Brussels, according to Indian embassy sources.
Mahajan extended an invitation to Bracke and Defraigne to visit India.
The Indian parliamentary delegation is on an official visit to Brussels from June 22 to 26 on an invitation of European Parliament President Martin Schulz.
