The West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights on Thursday said the preliminary findings of a team of experts on child rights issues in the state's tea gardens are most likely to be published by the month-end.
"Two teams of experts are working on child rights issues in tea gardens and internal migration with respect to children. We will most likely publish the preliminary findings on the tea gardens by month-end," commission chairman Ashokendu Sengupta told the media here.
He was speaking at a event held in connection with the 'Child Protection Day' organised by the Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Department in collaboration with Unicef.
Sengupta said the findings of the expert groups will form the basis for the commission's recommendations to be submitted to the state government.
"We have requested the Indian Statistical Institute to carry out work on internal migration. Though the study's focus is on the state, a lot of migration to and from neighbouring states like Jharkhand is an aspect we may have to look into as well. We want a detailed study on this issue," Sengupta said.
The commission also released a report on public hearings undertaken in 2015 on the violation of Right to Education Act in Malda and Jalpaiguri.
