Gearing up for the upcoming general elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders met here Thursday to chalk out their strategy and decided to hold meetings of party workers from all over the country, and focus on social media to reach out to voters.

The parliamentary board meeting was the first to be chaired by the new campaign committee chief Narendra Modi. Another meet of the parliamentary board of the party would be held Aug 8.

"We discussed about the upcoming assembly and general elections. It was decided we would be organising camps for our party workers across the country," party leader Ananth Kumar told reporters after the meeting.

He said meetings and conferences will be held for 1,500 to 2,000 booths across the country. Nearly 10 workers from each booth level will be called for the meet.

Ananth Kumar added that another meeting would be held Aug 8 to decide the "war footing preparations" the party needed for the polls.

A party leader added that social media as a medium of campaign was also discussed.

Modi was seen sitting next to party veteran L.K. Advani, who had last month tendered his resignation after Modi was named as the head of BJP' campaign committee.

He took back his resignation after an intervention from mentor organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat.

Modi had met Advani on his recent visit to Delhi as well.
