Speaker lauds security forces' role in Uttarakhand

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has lauded the role of the armed forces, paramilitary services and disaster management agencies in carrying out relief and rescue operations in flood-hit Uttarakhand, a statement said Thursday.

In a letter to the heads of the army, air force, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Border Roads Organisation (BRO), the speaker extended her appreciation to their personnel for providing timely assistance to victims in some of the most inaccessible areas at times at great risk to their own safety.
