Boxer Sarita in quarters, Manoj ousted

Indian pugilist won L. Sarita Devi won her women's 57-60 kg opening bout to proceed to the quarterfinals of the Commonwealth Games here Tuesday.

However, it was the end of the road for men's 64 kg defending champion Manoj Kumar who was ousted from the quarterfinals 0:3 by England's Samuel Maxwell with identical scorelines of 27:30 in each of the three rounds.

Sarita won in perfect fashion, notching up 10:9 points in both the rounds to Nigeria's Kehinde Obareh in the last 16 clash. The Indian will next take on Welsh Charlene Jones in the quarterfinals Wednesday.
